If you’re on the US Cellular network, you can disable call forwarding by using a simple USSD shortcode. This code won’t work on other providers’ networks, however.

1. Dial the Number:

Call forwarding is a convenient feature that allows you to reroute incoming calls to another number. It can be useful if you’re away from your phone, at work, or when you’re busy with something else.

There are several ways to activate and deactivate call forwarding, depending on your network operator. You can use the carrier’s website, app, or a USSD shortcode.

To activate call forwarding on Verizon One Talk, you can dial *72 and the 10-digit mobile number to which you’d like to reroute calls. You’ll hear a confirmation tone when the feature is activated. You can also use this code to enable “Always Forward,” “Forward When Busy,” or “Forward When Unanswered.” To deactivate call forwarding, open the dialer app and enter *73. You’ll receive a confirmation message when the feature is deactivated. The process to check call forwarding on AT&T and T-Mobile phones is similar. You can open the dialer app and enter *21* to find out the call forwarding number.

2. Listen to the Dial Tone:

You can set up call forwarding so calls are automatically sent to another number if you miss or don’t answer your phone. You can also track the status of your forwarding and make changes to it. Here’s how:

If you want to stop your call forwarding feature, lift the receiver and listen for a dial tone. Dial *57, or 1157 on a rotary or pulse phone, and follow the voice instructions to confirm.

Forward all incoming calls to another number when you don’t answer your home phone. To activate, dial *72 (or 73 on a rotary or pulse phone), listen for a dial tone, and then enter the number to which you’d like your calls forwarded. If the call is forwarded to a long-distance number, toll charges will apply. You can change the forwarding number at any time. You can even choose to forward calls only after a certain number of rings. It’s a great way to ensure you never miss a business or personal call.

3. Listen to the Confirmation Tone:

You can forward calls to another number, such as your mobile phone, so you don’t miss important calls when you’re on the go. Call Forwarding is a free feature with your home phone service, and you can activate it in just a few steps. To check whether your phone is forwarding, lift the receiver and listen for a dial tone. You should hear a fast busy signal if it’s active, and a regular dial tone if it’s not.

To activate Call Forwarding, dial the activation code; *72 (1172 on a rotary dial telephone). Then, dial the number to which you want calls forwarded (this can be a local or long-distance number, but it must be compatible with your service). Listen for a confirmation tone (3 short beeps) that indicates the call forwarding has been established. Calls will be forwarded to the number you specified until you inactivate the feature. This is an ideal way to ensure that you never miss a call, even if you’re out of the office or away from your home.

4. Listen to the Caller ID:

If your call forwarding is working, you should hear an announcement that tells you which number your calls are being rerouted to. This feature is especially helpful if you are traveling abroad, or if you know you are going to be out of signal range for an extended period of time.

If you are using an Android phone. You can check if call forwarding is enabled by opening the Phone app and tapping the three-dots menu. Then selecting Settings or Call settings. In most cases, the default setting for forwarding is “Always Forward,” which enables all incoming calls to be forwarded to another number. Other options include “When Busy,” which reroutes calls when this Android phone is busy; and “When Unanswered,” which reroutes calls when the phone is turned off, in airplane mode, or doesn’t have a cellular signal. If you select either of these options, enter the number where you want incoming calls to be forwarded and tap Turn On.
